Real Housewife's Former Fiance Was Brutally Murdered

On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kim Richards sometimes seems like the saddest of the bunch. She fights with her sister Kyle, has had trouble finding a new home and admits she feels awkward and lonely since her divorce.

But the reality-TV drama is nothing compared the pain of her past.

Nineteen years ago, Richards was engaged to commodities salesman John J. Collett, then 29, of Agoura Hills, Calif. After following her career in films like Disney's Escape from Witch Mountain, he met his movie star crush and they dated for several months before they began to discuss their dream wedding.

"She loved him and he loved her and it was like a fairy tale," his sister Nina Stormo, 35, tells PEOPLE. "They seemed really happy."
Murder-for-Hire

But in October of 1991, Collett was gunned down by a hit man outside a San Fernando Valley deli in what may have been a business scheme gone horribly wrong. Richards had to identify the body.

"It just tore her apart emotionally and she was not in good shape for a long time," Collett's mother Jan Collett tells PEOPLE. "She really loved John. They were a good match."

Marva DeCarlo Johnson, 31, was sentenced in June of 1993 to 30-years-to-life after he was found guilty of murder. Prosecutors presented evidence that it was a paid hit, but did not present evidence of who bankrolled it or why.

Before his death, Collett had worked for a commodities firm that allegedly defrauded investors for millions. He became one of six defendants in a civil suit filed by California regulators.

John Travolta Reveals Baby Name

John Travolta and Kelly Preston's baby boy will arrive in about three weeks, and they will name him Benjamin, John tells Star magazine.

John, 56, and Kelly, 48, announced they were expecting in May.

"It's impossible to keep a secret ... especially one as wonderful as this," they said in a statement. "We want to be the first to share this great news with everyone that we are expecting a new addition to our family."

They have a daughter, Ella Bleu, 10, and lost their son Jett at the age of 16 last year.

Katy Perry: I'd Rather 'Tease' Than Pose Nude

Katy Perry isn't shy about showing some skin – just don't expect her to bare all.

"I like to play [the sexy] card because it's fun and definitely in my deck, but I like to tease," Perry says in the December issue of British Cosmopolitan. "I'm like a burlesque girl. I definitely won't be doing a Playboy spread, but I will be doing a kind of Dita Von Teese style."

Being married to Russell Brand is what, Perry says, makes her feel unconditionally sexy.

"I'm confident in my skin I guess, lately," she explains. "I think that when you're in a supportive relationship, you don't care anymore about outside. Things that may have irked you before don't matter because you found someone who loves you no matter what."

Adds Perry, "I guess it's a mixture of, 'Hey, I'm 26, and I know these are my prime years and I feel confident,' and being loved-up."

Lady Gaga Dominates MTV Europe Music Awards

Lady Gaga won three prizes at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday, claiming Best Female, Song, and Pop honors, just a year after taking the plaudits for best new act.

The ceremony converted two of the Spanish capital's most iconic landmarks into glittering venues from which to present its 2010 honors.

Tens of thousands of music fans crowded downtown Puerta de Alcala and Caja Magica to hear 14 separate performers, including acts by Jared Leto and Shakira.

Lady Gaga beamed her acceptance speech from Budapest, Hungary, where she was on tour. She interrupted a live act in the Hungarian capital to convey by video link her delight at the crop of awards which just kept on coming and spotlighted her song "Bad Romance" as the year's best.

Best New Act went to KE$HA, while the 16-year-old Justin Bieber won the Best Male Artist award, Paramore the Best Alternative act, and Eminem got the Best Hip Hop award.

The new MTV Global Icon award went to Jon Bon Jovi, who thrilled fans with a live performance of "Shot through the heart" and "You're to blame" at the spectacularly decorated, year-old Caja Magica venue, sometimes used for sports events.

At the center of the Caja Magica hall a brilliantly illuminated hollow cube acted as a focal point for indoor acts while the Puerta de Alcala - once the location of the eastern entrance in the long disappeared city wall - provided an outdoor flavor to the show.

Katy Perry got Best Video for "California Gurls" and raised a cheer when she collected the award wearing an ornate, dark outfit.

Presenter Eva Longoria also regaled viewers with a dazzling array of elegant dresses and at one point had the audience in fits of laughter by saying she had discovered her long-lost Spanish relatives in Madrid. She then introduced four statuesque and muscular young men dressed only in underpants bearing the letters "Longoria" at the back. "That's my family, which I'm going to introduce to the girls backstage," she said.

Christina Aguilera Spotted On Double Date

Christina Aguilera went on a double date Saturday night with a male friend.

According to the Daily Mail, Aguilera enjoyed dinner with Matthew D. Rutler, a set assistant on her new movie 'Burlesque,' in which she co-stars with Cher.

Aguilera and Rutler dined at Hollywood's SoHo House with Nicole Richie and her fiance Joel Madden.

As they left the restaurant, Rutler reportedly hid under a blanket in the back seat of Aguilera's car, which was driven by Madden.

Aguilera filed for divorce from husband Jordan Bratman in October, and admitted in a recent interview that she sometimes struggles to get out of bed.

Jill Clayburgh's Costar Jake Gyllenhaal

In one of her final roles, Jill Clayburgh plays the mom of charismatic Viagra salesman Jamie Reidy (Jake Gyllenhaal) in the romantic comedy "Love and Other Drugs."

Gyllenhaal and the film's director Edward Zwick said they had no idea the Oscar-nominated screen legend was battling chronic lymphocytic leukemia at the time. They learned of it after their work together.

"I think part of her sickness is what made her live her life ... and really cherish the moments she had and cherish the people she was with," said Gyllenhaal while promoting the film in New York on Sunday. "And she did when she was with us, cherish those moments, and they made us all love her."

Gyllenhaal filmed with Clayburgh in September of 2009.

Clayburgh, 66, died Friday at her home in Lakeville, Conn., after a 21-year battle with the disease.

Gyllenhaal credits Clayburgh's iconic portrayal of a divorcee in 1978's "An Unmarried Woman" with helping his own mother through divorce.

"It helped her through that time in a way that no other movie or anybody else had," he said.

"She left an indelible impression on me," he said. "You don't really need much time to work or meet somebody and know that they're really alive ... and when I heard that (she was sick) I just thought, you know there's that moment when you go like 'oh, like maybe that might be why she was so extraordinary.' And it makes me want to encourage people to wake up and live it like Jill did."
