Halloween Music Free

Halloween weekend has officially started. In fact, I'm currently decked out in my Ke$ha costume as I type this (man, this wig itches) and I'm jamming to some free Halloween music on my computer.

He did the mash, he did the Monster Mash!

There are so many sources for free music nowadays, I don't even know why people bother paying for it anymore. Whether you want to creep out your co-workers with eerie music or have the ultimate Halloween playlist at your costume party tonight, check out these websites that offer your favorite scary tunes for free:

All-About-Halloween: This site breaks music down into categories: movies and television themes without words (such as Exorcist), music and television themes with words (who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!), and Halloween-themed songs such as "Thriller."

Rhapsody: Drew's Famous Halloween Party Music and Halloween Fright Night are two really great playlists that you can listen to for free. Unfortunately, your limited to 25 songs before you have to sign up for a subscription, so choose wisely!

The Halloween Spot: This is a good source for spooky music and sound effects. \

Countess Blood: This site has two pages filled with spooky midis and wavs from a Hocus Pocus spell clip to haunted house sound effects to kids singing the Freddy song (gah, that one gets me every time!).

Happy haunting!

Halloween Songs

During the Christmas Holiday season, download and listen to a wide variety of Christmas themed music. While Christmas songs have been popular for hundreds of years, Halloween themed songs are becoming equally as popular. Many Halloween songs and music can now be found online for free. There are many different songs to choose from, which could be used by people in a wide variety of ways.

People who are thinking of hosting a Halloween themed party could benefit by getting some Halloween music.

Music with this theme will mix well with typical party music and could add a nice element to the party.

Other people who could benefit would be musical or instrument teachers that want to teach their students a new song.

The themed songs would help keep their students attention focused on music, as opposed to all of the other excitements that go along with the Halloween season.

Halloween Crossword Puzzles

THURSDAY’S PUZZLE — Do you love puns? If not, it’s perfectly appropriate in this Halloween puzzle to shout “BOO.”

Quip crosswords, like quote crosswords, are rarely seen anymore. The success of such puzzles depends mostly on the quality of the quip or, in this case, riddle, and that’s entirely subjective. If today’s groaner is more trick than treat for you, find a child of the right age and see how much fun she has with it.

We expect great clues from David J. Kahn, and there are some dandy ones today. “Burning issue” is ASH. Even if you suspect it’s a pun, and there’s no question mark on the clue here, “issue” is a versatile word with several possibilities. If you watched TV in the 1960s, you know that a “Bottled spirit” is a GENIE. (This has nothing to do with today’s puzzle, but I fondly remember a recent Mark Diehl clue in a Los Angeles Times puzzle: “Old rubber” for ALADDIN.) We don’t need to know the names of Italian networks to get “Italian TV channel.” We just have to turn the dial to number TRE. “That issue is in the past” implies a corresponding phrase, and I’M OVER IT captures the exact same spirit.

The best clue, though, is for one of the shortest words, and it echoes the theme on Wednesday. “Club for swingers” is BAT, of course. What were you thinking?
