Jessica Pare- "Megan" on "Mad Men"

Don't want to spoil last night's episode of Mad Men (I know Badger still hasn't seen it), so I will simply post a few pics of Don Draper's current secretary.
Also a link to some very NSFW nude pics of Jessica Pare from "Hot Tub Time Machine."

Kim Kardashian And Miles Austin

Reality TV starlet Kim Kardashian has ended her romance with Dallas Cowboys beau Miles Austin.

"There's no huge reason except their distance apart," a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. "With his season and Kim's filming ['Keeping Up with the Kardashians'] it just slowly split them apart."

According to friends, the split was mutual.

"They were always strong, but before Kim left for Europe they decided it's not fair that they don't get to spend more time together and ended it," the source added.

The pair started dating just a few months after Kardashian's breakup from NFL star Reggie Bush. But she and Austin were never in a rush to make their relationship official. "They are dating, but she doesn't want to rush anything," a friend told Us Weekly in June.

Dexter Season 5 Episode 4

“Dexter” Season 5, Episode 4: “Beauty and the Beast”
Last week we were all left wondering what we’re usually left wondering: “How’s Dexter going to get out of this one?”
Speaking of which, for someone so skilled and brilliant he sure gets himself into a lot of messes. It’s a good thing he’s good at getting himself out of them. Dexter’s (Michael C. Hall) latest mess is Lumen Pierce (Julia Stiles). She was a victim of Dexter’s latest victim, Boyd, and saw everything. She saw the kill room, she heard what Dexter said to Boyd, she saw Dexter kill him.
Dexter takes advantage of her weak state long enough to figure out what he’s going to do. He takes her to the abandoned visitor’s center and decides to keep her there, while nursing her back to health. She, of course, is still freaked out and thinks Dexter’s the bad guy. She tries to escape so he sedates her. He gets a fingerprint sample, locks her up and finally heads home.
Before he makes it home, Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) calls and insists he help her try to figure out what’s going on in that terribly boring storyline she’s involved in. He goes there and saves the day as always by suggesting they look for a cigar, thus finding DNA of the killer or killers they’re after.
At home, the new nanny is not happy Dexter was out all night and quits. He ends up taking baby Harrison to the police station where he runs the prints and figures out who his unplanned prisoner is. He figures out where she was staying before whatever happened to her happened. There he finds her belongings that include a letter from her mom that suggests she left home to get away from a bad situation. Oh all the unanswered questions of these shows. Why do we put ourselves through this?
Dexter returns to Lumen to find she’s slit her wrists. He bends down to help her and she attacks him and manages to escape. Dexter was outsmarted. Impressive. She runs a bit but Dexter quickly catches her.
Dexter takes Lumen to the site where Boyd’s bodies have been dumped. He tells her about Rita’s death and shows her where she would have ended up had Boyd’s plans been followed through. He even gives her a knife and allows her to stab him to prove he’s not a threat to her. She finally starts to trust him and reveals a little more to her story.
It seems there are other men who have assaulted her. So I’m thinking it’s some kind of human trafficking story? And Boyd is the final stop for this sold and purchased women? We’ll find out for sure next week, it seems.
Elsewhere, we’ve got Quinn (Desmond Harrington) still trying to prove Dexter was Kyle Butler and somehow connected to the Trinity Killer. He even manages to track down Trinity’s family that is staying in a safe house while awaiting witness protection. He shows Trinity’s son a photo of Dexter, but is caught by the FBI first.
Quinn gets in trouble and is suspended by Lt. LaGuerta (Lauren Velez). Speaking of LaGuerta, it looks like she might have to get Batista (David Zayas) out of trouble with Internal Affairs. Have I seen too many Showtime series or was there suggestion there that she might have to give the AI investigator oral sex to save her husband’s job? I mean, really? Is that what I was saying or was I way off? I hope I was way off.
Maybe LaGuerta’s “BJ” conversation was just a way to really piss her off so when she found out Quinn was investigating Dexter, she’d shut him out once and for all.
So what were your thoughts on the episode? Will Lumen be trouble or a blessing for Dexter? Is Quinn done or is this going to be another Doakes witch hunt? What’s going on with that Deb storyline and do we care?

Bcs Poll

The first BCS poll has been released, and TCU fans won't be happy. Oklahoma is No. 1. The Frogs are going to need some help to have any shot to get to the national title game, even if they finish undefeated.

No one wants to hear this, but the Frogs have to start rolling teams by 30. TCU's strength of schedule took a huge hit over the weekend with SMU, Oregon State and Air Force all losing.

The BCS poll

1. Oklahoma
2. Oregon
3. Boise State
4. Auburn
5. TCU
6. LSU
7. Michigan State
8. Alabama
9. Utah
10. Ohio State

This poll stinks. It's a total sham.

The Frogs' best hope is for teams behind and in front to lose another game or two.

Also of note, ESPN released a pair of "bowl projections" as well on Sunday. One has TCU playing Michigan State in the Rose Bowl. The other has TCU against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

If the Frogs make the Rose Bowl, drop everything and go. It's a great experience.

Freddy Sez

Freddy Schuman, known forever to Yankees fans as “Freddy Sez,” has died, according to the Daily News. He was 85.

I know there are people out there who have been going to Yankee games for a lot longer than I (or Chad) have, but all it took was one visit – one time hearing that plink-plink-plink – to know about Freddy. There are a lot of special things and people that have become pieces of the Yankee fabric over the years, and Freddy was most assuredly one of them.

He’ll be missed.

Jason Toohey

Jenny McCarthy was recently seen with Jason Toohey, her latest boyfriend. Jason Toohey and McCarthy were spotted taking pleasure of the sunshine in Miami October 15.It is pertinent to note that McCarthy had recently spoken about her relationship with Jason Toohey. "I have been so open and truthful in this relationship – it is amazing", McCarthy stated. "With Jason Toohey, I went in with all of my chips laid out," she went on to say. "He respected that and saw the life in me. And, so far, it is working well", she added. "There's not really much I can say because I respect his privacy, other than if I blamed him for any part of the breakup, I lose the lesson. You lose the lessons of your last relationship if you put the blame on the other person. We're friendly, we ended in peace."It has been learnt that Jenny McCarthy and Jason Toohey have been dating for some months. McCarthy and Jason have also reportedly been living together. It should be noted that Jason Toohey, who lives in Las Vegas, is an ex- fitness model. Jason Toohey has been performing at the Treasure Island Casino in the past."I am so pleased with everything in my career and personal life right now," McCarthy said. "I am staying with Jason because I am happy. If that should change, I will simply leave. I trust my own happiness – and I will follow my own emotional guide." Jason Toohey is also the owner of an eye mask treatment product and McCarthy has been promoting the product. The thirty five years old Jason Toohey has also been into the performance of stunts along with his career as an actor.

Eyedea

Eyedea performing even “Shadows Have Shadows”.
Minnaepolis emcee Michael “Eyedea” Larson passed away today according to City Pages magazine in Minneapolis.
There is a facebook page set-up to help with funeral costs.

after the jump i ramble about my memory of bumping into Eyedea. And posted some videos that stick out in my mind.
I’m not an expert on Eyedea’s life or music by any means.

Seriously like two months ago, Cashola and I were out with Detox at the Eyedea & Abilities Skully’s show. Detox was flyering for the Camu Tao “King of Hearts” release party. Some asshole said some uninformed, negative shit about Camu to Detox. Detox was furious and waited outside for the guy. The guy came out and Detox confronted him, asking the guy what city he was from, and why he had the audacity to just mock someones death like it is a fun game.
And of course the guy was a smart-ass after being confronted.
Blueprint, Cashola and I tried to talk Detox out of hitting the guy. We have all learned that dead friends are the ultimate sore that people will constantly try to pick at and hurt you with. Not sure why this is, but we all all gone through it repeatedly. And you can’t win because it only hurts you. You can’t give people that power.

Detox’s arguement was, “fuck this fucking guy. fuck him.”
Eyedea stepped in, not knowing the situation and told Detox to calm down.
Detox said to Eyedea, “you don’t know what this about. ”
The Eyedea replied, “Dude you are right. I have no idea. You look like you are going through something. I’m sorry for interuppting”.
Then Eyedea looked at us with a really sympathetic smile and went back to leaning against a car on High Street in front of the venue and observing the confrontation.
Eventually, cooler heads prevailed and we left. It helped that Eyedea at least acknowlegded that Detox might be have a root reason to being upset.
Every interaction I ever had with Eyedea was like that.
He was weird as fuck, warm and genuine..
He’d try to help you hook up with a girl or talk about aliens. Sometimes at the same times.

Rutgers Player Paralyzed

Rutgers coach Greg Schiano met with his team this morning to deliver the news: Junior defensive tackle Eric LeGrand suffered a spinal cord injury and has no movement below his neck.

LeGrand, who was injured in the Scarlet Knights' 23-20 victory over Army on Saturday, underwent emergency surgery after the game at Hackensack University Medical Center. He's in the intensive care unit and will remain at the hospital for the near future.

"No one knows,'' said Schiano when asked about LeGrand's prognosis moving forward.

"Certainly, there are experts. I've done a lot of research in the last 24 hours. As I told our team, we are going to believe that Eric LeGrand is going to walk onto that field again with us.

"That's what we believe. We'll see with what speed that happens. We've had a great outpouring from across the state and from alums and fans and we just ask for their continued prayers.''

Schiano, who rushed to the hospital immediately after the game, said he spoke with LeGrand before and after the surgery.

"Eric's spirits were as good as you could expect,'' he said. "He was cognizant of me being there and his mom and everybody. He's a fighter.

"He has a new set of challenges in front of him but there's no doubt in my mind Eric LeGrand is going to look those challenges in the eye like he has all the rest of them and overcome them.''

Schiano said he spent the entire night at the hospital along with LeGrand's mother, Karen, and LeGrand's family and friends. Several players also were there as was Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti and deputy athletic director Kevin MacConnell. LeGrand is one of the most popular players on the team.

"It's a nightmare for any parent,'' said Schiano. "(LeGrand) has a great family and they were all there last night. We spent the entire night together and there are going to be a lot of nights together. They're very supportive. That's the reason he's the young man that he is.''
There's video of the play at the link, but it's disturbing. It reminds me of the play on which Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett was paralyzed back in 2007. Everett never played again but was able to recover and walk again.

Move To The Groove Rhex Arboleda

Move To The Groove Rhex Arboleda: It was an unusual sight last August when several of the Dancing with the Stars professional dancers showed up in jeans, T-shirts and hardhats at the Neenah, Wis., home of Rhex Arboleda.

Just weeks before Dancing's season 11 began, the gang decided to pitch in on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition episode, scheduled to air Oct. 17 (8 p.m. ET), and there was, indeed, a dancing connection.

"Rhex started a program called Move to the Groove that encourages kids to get up and move, dance and be active," DWTS pro Derek Hough tells PEOPLE.

Hough was joined by fellow ballroom stars Mark Ballas, Tony Dovolani, Anna Trebunskaya and Chelsie Hightower. The gang all pitched in to help rebuild the home where Arboleda, an unsung hometown hero, lives with his wife and five children.

"This family of seven was living in a 500-square-foot home, but they were the most positive people," Hough says. "It was wonderful to be part of that energy, to give back to someone who had given so much but had so little."

Throughout the weeklong build with Ty Pennington and his crew, Hough insisted he be allowed to "get [his] hands dirty."

"After a few hours of swinging a hammer I was quite sore, I have to admit," Hough says, laughing. "Building is definitely harder than dancing."

bcs standings

The first official BCS Standings for the 2010 season are out and the Badgers open up at No. 13.

So why is Wisconsin ranked lower in the BCS than any of the major human polls?

Both major polls used in the formula (Harris and USA Today) have the Badgers ranked No. 11, but the six computer polls used give the Badgers an average ranking of No. 16. The lowest and highest rankings by the computers are thrown out and in this case the highest computer ranking for UW was No. 10 and the lowest was No. 19. Two of the computers that actually counted had UW at No. 13, while the other two had the Badgers at No. 17 and No. 18.

Wisconsin's weak non-conference schedule will continue to keep those computer rankings down, but a win at Iowa -- which is ranked No. 15 by the BCS -- would help UW's strength of schedule.

Michigan State debuts at No. 7 and Ohio State is No. 10 after losing to the Badgers.

Bcs Rankings

Oklahoma and Oregon claimed the top two spots in the season’s first Bowl Championship Series rankings, with Boise State third at the start of the two-month race for a berth in college football’s national title game.

The University of Oklahoma improved to 6-0 with a 52-0 rout of Iowa State two days ago. The Sooners, who won the BCS championship after the 2000 season and lost the title game following the 2003, 2004 and 2008 campaigns, have a rating of .922 out of 1.000 in the standings.

The University of Oregon is second at .892, followed by Boise State at .890. Both schools have 6-0 records this season and Boise State has won 20 straight games overall, the nation’s longest winning streak.

The teams that finish the regular season at No. 1 and No. 2 in the BCS standings will play for the national championship on Jan. 10 in Glendale, Arizona. The BCS is determined using the USA Today coaches’ poll, the Harris Interactive poll and six computer rankings.

The final standings will be released Dec. 5.

While Oregon was ranked No. 1 by both national polls used by the BCS formula, the Ducks averaged eighth in the computer rankings. Boise State, second in the coaches’ poll and the Harris poll, was ranked seventh by the computers. Oklahoma had the highest average computer rating and was ranked third by the coaches and fourth in the Harris poll.

Auburn University (7-0) is fourth in the BCS standings, followed by Texas Christian University (7-0), Louisiana State University (7-0) and Michigan State (6-1).

The University of Alabama (6-1) -- the defending national champion -- is the highest-ranked one-loss team at eighth.

The University of Utah (6-0) and Ohio State (6-1) complete the top 10 schools in the initial BCS standings.

Pukwudgies: Myth or Monster

In the Southeastern corner of Massachusetts lies Bristol County, an area known locally as the most haunted place in New England. The energy that sleeps there has been rumored to cause haunted schools, ghostly armies and unexplained suicides and murders. Forested areas of the county have long been known to contain a litany of unexplained animals, from Bigfoot and thunderbirds to large snakes and odd bear-like monsters. For the past forty years cults have flocked there, and their activities, often criminal, have filled the blotters of local law enforcement. Of all the unknown horrors that live in Bristol County, the most feared is not a animal or a ghost or the members of Satanic cults that walk the forests, but a demon only two feet high, and if the history of the area represents the history of our America society, these Pukwudgies are the gatekeepers of our darker side.
The Pukwudgies have haunted the forests of Massachusetts since before the first European Settlers ever thought about setting out for a new land. For centuries they tormented the local Native Americans and crept their way into their creation myths and oral history. They could easily be passed of as legend, and in fact, their physical description is much like mythological creatures from other cultures in other times. The difference is these demons jumped from the page and evolved as the people around them changed, changing from reluctant helpers to evil tormentors. The difference is these demons are still seen by people today.

Most cultures’ mythology has some reference to small monsters that have a strained relationship with humans. In many ways it makes sense. While large monsters have their place in our fears, diminutive creatures find their way into the shadows of our rooms and under our beds. Their names and nature change, but there are always common threads that link them together. Some are called monsters and roam the land looking for human food and kidnapping anyone they can find. Other are called demons, foul spirits that feed of the negative and expose the sins of man. When referring to one, its classification gets blurred and these two words become interchangeable, perhaps showing us how closely associated these monsters are with evil.

Veterans returning home after World War II talked of gremlins tearing apart their planes or getting into jeep engines and causing havoc. The Hindus speak of the Rakshasas or the “Night Wander” who eats human skin and jumps into the dead to possess them. Africans tell stories about the Eloko who lure people with beautiful music only to devour them after they have been bewitched with an ever expanding jaw.
Although passed off as works of fiction and imagination, trolls and dwarfs have existed in people’s fears for centuries. They have become lovable and noble now, but the original stories recorded of these monsters are anything but fairy tales with happy endings. Trolls were notorious for ambushing travelers and destroying whole families on a whim. While some are described as giants with humps and one eye, many older cultures, especially in Scandinavia, described the being as the size of a plump child.

Dwarfs have always been small and their manners much better, but the end result seems to be the same. Like the troll, they are known as metal and stone workers, but unlike their flesh-eating counterparts, dwarves seem to avoid human contact. While they would prefer to be left alone, if impeded upon their work, they become like caged dogs. One variation of the dwarf is the Tommy-Knocker who lives in mine shafts and is sometimes said to be the ghost of miners who have perished in the line of duty and are doomed to work for eternity. They are known to cause cave-ins and fires in the shafts.

Perhaps the most famous of the small nightmare are seen by the Irish. Fairies patrol the roads in Ireland causing problems for any traveler who strays from the path. They live in hills or mounds and dance around fires. If a human comes across their mound or sees their dancing, they are caught and held captive. Even the beloved leprechaun was once a malicious spirit before he was Americanized and transformed into the gold keeper he is today.

Exposure to nature seems to feed these tales, and the more a society depends on the earth for its needs, and the closer the relationship a people have with the natural world around them, the more these stories pop up. In this country, the people the first settlers found had a close, if not friendly, view of small dangers around them. The Cherokee have a mirror image demon known as the Yunwi Djunsti, or little people, that look and talk like Cherokee but are only a few feet high and have long hair that touches the ground. Although most people cannot see them, they are known to throw objects, trip up hunters and abduct people who wander off. In Canada they are known as Mennegishi and look much like the classic alien grey.

Frontier Airlines

Undercover Boss tonight (10/17) followed Bryan Bedford, the CEO of Frontier Airlines. A deeply religious man, Bryan is ready to find out what’s really going on in the company. There was a recent merger and a 10% pay cut in the company so he thinks it’s the best time to get out there.
First up for Bryan was cleaning a plane in 7 minutes under the direction of Sue. She yelled at him constantly to keep up. Why is it these CEO’s can never hustle?
Next, he trained as a cross-utilization agent, and said he was anxious to find out if that is really an efficient way to do business. He was working with Valerie, and first they had to marshall a plane in. Then they unloaded the suitcases. Bryan forgot to count the bags, which apparently was a critical problem. From there they took their sweaty selves to the gate and checked people in. Bryan is thinking the cross-utilization thing isn’t so great after all. Valerie is a woman of faith also, and Bryan found her to be inspirational.
From there, Bryan went to Denver to be a flight attendant. Bryan talked to people too much and delayed the departure. Then he screwed up the safety demonstration. He was paired up with a flight attendant named Tui. I thought flight attendants had to be skinny? Tui had a little trouble with how much Bryan talked with the passengers, but he totally understood the way Frontier wants to be different from other airlines. But Tui works 6 days a week and barely is making it. The pay cut really hurt him.
Then Bryan had to clean out the lavatories with Hector. Naturally he screwed up, which Hector enjoyed but he made sure to stand well back. Hector clued him in how hard everyone has been working to save the airline. Hector straight up told him “thank you” is an important word.
Time for the big reveal. The employees are summoned to headquarters and Bryan meets with his senior management team. For Valerie, Bryan gave her $10,000 for a charity of her choice. For Hector, he created a forum for Hector to talk to new hires, to communicate his enthusiasm. Plus he sent Hector and his wife on a week-long vacation. For Sue, he dedicated an aircraft to the memory of her dead son, and he sent her on a cruise with her granddaughter. For Tui, he made him chairman of a branding committee, and contributed $20,000 toward his kids’ college educations.
For the company meeting, Bryan announced that the pay cuts would be recovered over the next three years.

Move To The Groove

Move to the groove another buzz is on peak today.Wisconsin who created a dance program targeting childhood obesity he calls Move to the Groove. Arboleda’s award-winning dance-fitness program, that makes exercise less like P.E. and more like a playground, is currently being used in several elementary schools.

However, Arboleda’s tiny, ancient home is considerably less fit and fun for his wife and five children, than his health-teaching innovations. Enter Ty Pennington of the EMHE ABC program, representing the home repair side, and Dancing with the Stars winners assisting from the dance/fitness area.

As according to Jeremy

PS: I started producing Move to the Groove dance parties in 2001 out of frustration at the homogeniety of the local dance event scene—if you went swing dancing it would be a whole evening of nothing but swing, if you went salsa dancing it was a whole evening of nothing but salsa, and likewise for tango. I wanted a fun eclectic dance party that provided a diverse mix of people and music in a venue with a great wooden dance floor and a good atmosphere including a full bar, tables and chairs. I make a special point as host to make everyone feel welcome at my parties. Come and discover for yourself!

PPS: Thanks to all the people over the years who have helped make the Move to the Groove events possible, including all the many wonderful volunteers. You can get an idea of the joy and excitement of these parties from Dave Matthews' photos.
