After hearing several reports from people claiming to have seen a ghost lurking around Gaffney’s Historic District, we decided to see what all the hoopla was about. With a bag full of camera equipment and fresh batteries in our flashlights, we bravely set out on foot, determined to get to the bottom of these claims. Boy did we find more than we ever expected!
After poking around the back yards of certain prominent city figures, who have been known to have dealings with the spiritual underworld, we decided to take a look at the Cherokee County History & Arts Museum. Pay dirt!
Not only did we find a ghost, but we caught the ghost on camera! As far as we know, this is the first ever confirmed ghost sighting caught on camera. Exciting huh!? Well it gets even better. The ghost actually spoke with us on camera! That’s right! We have the first ghost ever caught on camera AND the first ever interview with a ghost! Crazy huh!? Well it gets even better. This isn’t just any old ghost. It’s the ghost of Amelia Earhart!
That’s right! We spoke with the ghost of THE Amelia Earhart. The legendary aviator that was the first lady to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. The one that went missing 73 years ago and was declared dead two years later. That Amelia Earhart.
We found her quietly observing an exhibit dedicated to her career in aviation. She was a good spirit, and after speaking with us for a few minutes, agreed to talk with us on camera.
Watch the video to see the ghost of Amelia Earhart and hear what she had to say about rumors of her death and why she returned to Cherokee County to take part in this year’s Historic Hayride and Ghost Walk.
