New York City Marathon results for 2010 are in and runners are already thinking about NYC Marathon 2011 registration. The ING New York City Marathon 2010 results came in yesterday afternoon. The NYC Marathon winners were Gebre Gebremariam for the men's race and Edna Kiplagat for the women's race.
Several recognized celebrities participated in the NYC Marathon 2010 including Robin Quivers from The Howard Stern Show, Al Roker of The Today Show and the surviving Chilean miner Edison Pena. Spectators watched for high profile faces to run by during the NYC Marathon. The ING NYC Marathon included 45,344 runners.
NYC Marathon 2010 male race winner Gebre Gebremariam hails from Ethiopia. The 26 year old runner won his first victory in his first marathon. Gebremariam came in at 2 hours and 8:14 minutes.
Edna Kiplagat from Kenya took the women's race with a time of 2:28:20. The second place winner of the women's race was Shalane Flanagan from America, coming in right behind Kiplagat with a time of 2:28:40.
Over 45,344 runners participated in the NYC Marathon 2010. As everyone reviews the NYC Marathon results, it is already time to consider the NYC Marathon 2011.
Runners can register for the NYC Marathon 2011 starting noon EDT today at the ING NYC Marathon website. Those 18 or older on Sunday, November 6, 2011 may apply for entry in the NYC Marathon. The lottery applications will be accepted until 11:50 p.m on April 19, 2011. The lottery will be held in late April.
