(WHAS11) – Fire dangers have increased across Indiana and Kentucky due to long dry spells and high winds.

Open burning bans have been issued in more than half of Indiana’s counties including nearly the state’s entire southern half.

The national weather service has classified the southern half of the state as under severe or moderate drought.
