Wthr Weather Radar

Indianapolis - A storm system will move into central Indiana Tuesday, bringing rain and strong winds to the metro area during the noon hour.

A wind advisory was in effect until 8:00 pm Monday for gusty winds up to 30 mph. The winds Tuesday are expected to be even stronger.

Storms are likely after midnight, along with strong winds, with a low of 60 degrees.

It's been a couple of very dry months in Indiana. In August, Indianapolis only had .37" and in September, .56". We're up to nearly an inch of rain for the month of October, but more rain is needed to lift the burn bans. Up to a half-inch of rain is expected Tuesday during the day across Indiana. Some areas could see up to an inch.

There's also the possibility of isolated severe storms, including lightning, straight line winds and wind gusts up to 50 mph.

The rain will clear out by rush hour Tuesday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures Wednesday in the 60s.

The temperatures will stick to the 60s for the rest of the week, with a small chance of rain for Halloween on Sunday.

Stay alert to weather conditions on Tuesday and be prepared for any severe weather watches or warnings. Keep it tuned to WTHR Channel 13 for all your weather updates starting at 4:30 am on Sunrise. SkyTrak meteorologist Chuck Lofton will also do weather cut-ins during the 4:00 am half-hour of "Early Today."
