The Kinect is here. You’ve no doubt read countless introductions and impressions about the new device. Everything to the setup process to the hit’s and misses of Kinect are all well covered. Families are already enjoying rafting around together, and girlfriends and wives are requesting one of many fitness titles so they can tone up with your favorite gaming system.
So now that it’s arrived the burning question is: what does the future hold for Kinect? Let’s take a look in our crystal ball and see what’s already planned and what we hope is around the corner?
Further involvement with the dashboard:
While the Kinect hub works great and is certainly a strong start to allowing new interaction to your XBOX dashboard experience it certainly has room to grow. I would love to see the voice and wave commands work on the main dashboard to browse the wealth of features that are already there. The ability to use voice commands on Zune is great but I use Netflix far more on my XBOX and the inclusion of voice-activated control of those movies is something I deeply hope MS is looking into. As it works now the use of Kinect to control the hub is essentially flawless in my eyes and I eagerly await the day this control permeates every aspect of the dashboard.
