Earlier Tuesday morning, www.duke-energy.com reported a total of 2,146 homes in Clay County without power. By noon, however, that number had dwindled to approximately 50.
The National Weather Service (NWS) based in Indianapolis issued a severe thunderstorm warning Tuesday morning for Clay County.
At 8:27 a.m., NWS radar indicated a line of thunderstorms capable of "producing destructive winds in excess of 70 mph."
The organization announced a tornado watch was in effect for the area as well and a high wind warning.
The high wind warning will remain in effect until 8 p.m., Tuesday.
According to the organization, strong winds would impact central Indiana through Tuesday.
