Just because we told you earlier this week that Marty McFly went back in time exactly 25 years ago, does not mean we believe that this woman did too. However, what you see in this clip is inexplicable.
While Irish filmmaker George Clarke was watching behind-the-scenes footage of the 1928 Charlie Chaplin film The Circus, he noticed a woman walk across the set holding — what looks like a cell phone — up to her ear and talking on it. Clarke points out that her knuckles are curved around the device and the woman (who could also be a man dressed in drag) turns her head and practically looks at the camera while her mouth is moving. It's all very bizarre.
Clarke has shown this clip to over 100 people at a film festival, and nearly 1,500,000 more, since it went viral on YouTube, and no one has yet to give a good, scientific explanation for what was captured. In the meantime, he settled for his best guess: Time travel. Even if it was true, there were no cell phone towers in the '20s, so perhaps her "cell phone" was really a communication machine from 2050, a time when we will discover how to use phones without towers. Or maybe she was talking to aliens. They're here to help us ya know, if you haven't already heard.
