Charlie Chaplin Time Traveler

Charlie Chaplin Time Traveler: By now, most of the planet seems to have heard about a time traveler that was caught on Charlie Chaplin’s 1928 film “The Circus” talking on a cell phone. There has been a huge deal made of this, but is it really needed?
In this “Time Traveler” video, you can see a woman walking down the street during filming of extra footage for Chaplin’s film. It appears as though she is holding a cell phone to her ear and speaking into it. Off course no one can really say if it is a cell phone. If it were, there would be no explanation to this, other than saying she has to be a time traveler. However, no one can see a cell phone. They only see a shadowy image of something that appears to be the size of today’s smartphones.
In an article written by Ed Krassenstein, he notes that hearing aids from the 1920′s were about the same size as today’s cell phones.
We decided to check out Twitter and Facebook to see what users thought. Was it really a time traveler, or was it something else that can be explained?
Below are comments anonymously taken from Twitter and Facebook:
- Have U seen this Charlie Chaplin clip? My dreams of time travel possibilities are being fanned this morning!
- You know, maybe the Charlie Chaplin cellphone clip just shows a crazy person with an earache muttering to themselves.
- So, did that time traveler in the Charlie Chaplin film bring a cell phone tower with him? And who is he talking to exactly? Morons.
- sooo embarrassed for the guy who legit thinks that’s a time traveler in the Charlie Chaplin movie.. time for a new hobby
- What was personal recording equipment like in 1928? Because this could be a wealthy eccentric, recording her memoirs as she walks.
- The person at the Charlie Chaplin premiere is either actually a time traveler who’s crazy and talking with no service (no towers), or a not- time traveller who is crazy talking to a rock.
- This just in, woman from Charlie Chaplin film sues Apple for iPhone patent infringement
As you can see, there are plenty of theories, most supporting the idea that it simply isn’t a time traveler. What do you think?
